About Me

MERI COLBERT (SHE/HER) IS A CONCEPT ARTIST AND 3D ASSET MODELER FROM FORT WAYNE, INDIANA.

My Story

I have loved art since I was young. In elementary school, I was the kid who doodled on all of the worksheets. I once had a Sharpie tattoo shop in 5th grade and would “tattoo” my friends as we waited for our buses.

I was a self-taught artist until my last few years of high school when I knew I wanted an art career. I didn’t know what field to go into until I watched “The Lion King” (2019). As the opening credits rolled, I teared up, looked at my mom, and said, “I’m going to do that someday.” I worked hard to get an academic and an art scholarship at the University of Saint Francis. I enrolled in the Animation department, having little knowledge of the process, but lots of passion. Now a graduate, I have my Bachelor’s of Art in Animation, with minors in Film and Visual Development.

I learned many things during my time at Saint Francis. I found my niche as a 3D asset modeler and kit builder while using my love of film and fine art in my concept work. It is not what I expected to do when I first started, but it is what I love. I know I still have a lot of room to grow and learn, but I am so excited about it all!
